We are rounding out 2019. How was your year? Did you accomplish your goals? Where were your wins? Is there anywhere that you could have done better?

The yearly review is a process that I started back in 2016, and it’s taught me so much. It has been the single most powerful learning tool that I have found to get ready for the coming year. Looking back has allowed me to see where I did well, where I could have done better, and what I need to focus on moving forward.

In other words, looking back at the year helps you begin to look forward to a new year.

My yearly review process.

In this week’s Mindset Monday, I’m going over the process that I use for my yearly review. It’s actually a really fun process to do if you will just clear your calendar and all distractions for about 30 minutes. Personally, I grab a cup of coffee and prepare myself because it’s necessary to get brutally honest about what happened over the last 365 days. By doing this, I learn as much about me and my year as I can.

Take a listen to this week’s chat.

Mindset Monday – Looking Back

Look back.

I want to encourage you as we prepare to finish out the year to sit down and go through this process. By looking back, you can start to get a clear picture of what will be the most beneficial things for you to work on in 2020. When you see your wins and losses, you can learn so much about yourself and how you approach different situations. It’s also fun to see the accomplishments that you made over the last year.

If you missed last week’s Mindset Monday about being bold, check it out here. I encourage you to check it out because it’s a very vulnerable talk about my personal struggle with stepping completely out of my comfort zone. This is the biggest lesson that I learned about myself as I looked back over my yearly review for 2016, 2017, and 2018.
