Ready to make 2020 your best year yet? I sure hope so. Have you already set some goals? As you look forward to the future, it’s vital to make sure that you approach it with a clean slate. One thing that you have to make sure you address before you get to work smashing your goals is…the anchor that’s holding you back.
An anchor is heavy. It will slow you down. It will pull you back. Dragging an anchor behind you leads to heavy, exhausting work. Yet, so many of us are walking around not even realizing that we’ve got a weight tied to our foot, and we are dragging it with us everywhere we go.
It’s time to say good bye to the anchor that’s holding you back so that you can fully step into your future.
So what exactly is that anchor? For most of us, it’s the past. We carry around things that we did or that happened to us. For some, we go back 30 years. But, we can carry and hold onto things that happened 30 days, 30 weeks, or even 30 seconds ago.
You can’t carry the anchor of the past with you and expect the future to be different.
In today’s Mindset Monday, I’m diving into this topic. What exactly does the anchor look like? How does it hold you back? What can you do to cut it loose?
It’s time to let go.
As you sit down with your goals and dreams for this year, I encourage you to sit down with your past. Allow yourself the opportunity to break out an eraser and wipe your slate clean. Understand that this process must happen over and over. In fact, you might have to erase more than one time a day.
Forgive yourself for choices you made. Forgive others for things they’ve done. It doesn’t mean that anything was right. But, if you want a kick a&$ future, you better drop that anchor of the past so you can go run after it.
